Open bidding (FAQ)
What does “Is inventory owned?” mean in the onboarding form ?
Section titled “What does “Is inventory owned?” mean in the onboarding form ?”This field allows Adagio to determine how your inventory is represented in bid requests and to send the correct signals to downstream demand partners.
Providing an accurate answer is required.
If this information is incorrect, bid requests may be rejected by demand partners and monetization may not occur.
- Yes — Inventory is owned : Select this option if the inventory you are monetizing:
- belongs directly to your company, and
- is operated under domains or apps that you own and control.
This typically applies to publishers monetizing their own websites or apps only.
- No — Inventory is managed : Select this option if you:
- monetize inventory on behalf of third-party publishers, or
- act as a network, sales house, or intermediary.
This option should also be selected if your setup includes any managed inventory.
Important note for mixed setups (“Owned + Managed”)
Section titled “Important note for mixed setups (“Owned + Managed”)”If you are both:
- own inventory and
- manage inventory for third parties,
It is recommended to select “No — Inventory is managed” during onboarding. After completing the setup, please contact Adagio support so that a Customer Success Manager can help correctly classify and configure your inventory.
I submitted my application, but I don’t see any ads serving. What should I check?
Section titled “I submitted my application, but I don’t see any ads serving. What should I check?”If your application has been approved but you do not see ads serving yet, please verify the following:
- ads.txt / app-ads.txt
Make sure all required Adagio and demand partner entries have been correctly added to your ads.txt or app-ads.txt file and are publicly accessible. Refer to update-your-app-ads.txt-file.md - Inventory configuration in Google
Ensure that Adagio has been added to the relevant yield groups, and that the inventory you want to monetize is properly targeted. Please refer to Google official documentation : Create and manage yield groups - Approval status
Confirm that your status in the Google UI is Approved under Delivery > Bidders.
If everything is correctly configured and ads are still not serving, please contact Adagio support.
My application is still “Pending”. How long does the review take?
Section titled “My application is still “Pending”. How long does the review take?”After you complete the onboarding flow, Adagio reviews your submission as part of its vetting process.
Due to the volume of requests, the review process may take several business days. During this time, your status will remain Pending in the Google interface.
There is no additional action required from your side while the review is in progress.
My application was rejected. Can I know the reason or appeal the decision?
Section titled “My application was rejected. Can I know the reason or appeal the decision?”Due to the high volume of Open Bidding applications, Adagio may not be able to provide detailed reasons for individual rejections or offer an appeal process.
Rejections may occur for reasons such as (non-exhaustive):
- Inventory not meeting brand safety or quality requirements
- Unsupported geographies
- Incomplete or inaccurate information provided during onboarding
To improve the chances of approval in future submissions, please ensure that all information provided is complete and accurate.
I did not provide any billing information. How will I get paid?
Section titled “I did not provide any billing information. How will I get paid?”All billing and payments for Open Bidding inventory monetized through Adagio are handled directly by Google.
Google provides consolidated reporting and payments to publishers, exactly as for other Open Bidding partners. Adagio does not invoice publishers or issue payments for Open Bidding traffic.
Will I get access to an Adagio reporting or management interface?
Section titled “Will I get access to an Adagio reporting or management interface?”Adagio provides access to limited reporting and inventory information in its interface.
However, for Google Open Bidding traffic, Google Ad Manager remains the source of truth for:
- reporting,
- auction behavior,
- inventory management,
- and revenue reconciliation.
Data visible in the Adagio interface may differ from Google reporting due to differences in measurement scope and timing.
For this reason, publishers should always rely on Google Ad Manager data when reviewing performance or revenue related to Open Bidding traffic.
Do I need to update ads.txt or app-ads.txt?
Section titled “Do I need to update ads.txt or app-ads.txt?”Yes.
In order to monetize inventory through Adagio on Open Bidding, you must declare Adagio and its demand partners as authorized sellers in your ads.txt and/or app-ads.txt file.
Please refer to the update-your-app-ads.txt-file.md section of this documentation for the full and up-to-date list of required entries.
Failure to correctly update ads.txt or app-ads.txt may prevent monetization.
I already work with Adagio through another integration. Can I add Google Open Bidding?
Section titled “I already work with Adagio through another integration. Can I add Google Open Bidding?”Yes.
If you already work with Adagio through another integration, you can link Google Open Bidding to your existing Adagio setup during the onboarding flow.
You will be asked to sign in to your existing Adagio account and select the relevant publisher account before accepting the Open Bidding addendum.
Can I set price floors or targeting rules in Adagio?
Section titled “Can I set price floors or targeting rules in Adagio?”Yes, it is technically possible to configure certain pricing or targeting rules in Adagio.
However, for Google Open Bidding traffic, Adagio strongly recommends managing all pricing, targeting, and inventory rules directly in Google Ad Manager.
Google Ad Manager remains the source of truth.
Configuring these settings in Google ensures:
- consistent auction behavior,
- accurate reporting,
- and full alignment with Google Open Bidding mechanisms.
Any configuration done outside of Google Ad Manager may lead to unexpected behavior and is therefore not recommended for Open Bidding traffic.

Can I disconnect Adagio from Google Open Bidding?
Section titled “Can I disconnect Adagio from Google Open Bidding?”Once the Open Bidding partnership is established, publishers cannot fully “remove” a bidder via the Google UI.
However, you can stop sending traffic to Adagio at any time by removing Adagio from your yield groups (Google Ad Manager)
